Entry requirements

Three or more GCSEs at Grade 2 including:

  • GCSE English Language and maths at Grade 2 (or equivalent)
  • Successful completion of Entry 3, and appropriate recommendation report

Course information

This entry-level, one-year course is perfect for students who want to dive into the creative industries and develop their artistic skills through practical, hands-on projects. You'll explore a wide range of art and design techniques using both traditional materials and digital tools, building your confidence and creativity while preparing for further study.

You’ll take part in exciting, real-world themed projects such as:

  • Creating 3D design pieces
  • Exploring fine art, photography and graphic design
  • Using digital media and cameras to produce artwork
  • Learning printing techniques
  • Working with local businesses on live briefs and commissions
  • Developing your own creative products with entrepreneurial flair

This course is taught in our bright, open-plan studios, with access to specialist facilities including printmaking, 3D workshop, fashion and photography studios. You’ll also have use of Apple Macs and digital design tools, and will be supported by tutors with real industry experience.

Alongside creative skills, you’ll develop important transferrable skills like teamwork, organisation, communication and self-management—key to success in any industry.

  • How you are assessed

    Through a mix of coursework, practical projects. You’ll build a portfolio of work and complete tasks like presentations, group work, and written reflections.
