Minimum average point score: 3.50, Grade 4 English Language GCSE, Grade 4 Maths GCSE, Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9 - 4, including English and Maths

Course information

This Level 3 Extended Certificate in Early Childhood Development is equivalent to one A Level and is designed for post-16 learners interested in working with children aged 0 to 8 years. It includes four mandatory units: two internally assessed and two externally assessed, covering child development, safeguarding, play and learning, and reflective practice. The course encourages practical learning and supports progression to higher education. Students explore theoretical concepts and gain valuable insight into the early years care and education sector, often supported by optional work placements.

This AAQ course is for students who don’t yet meet the entry requirements for a T Level but would like to progress onto one. It allows you to study at Level 3 while retaking English and/or maths. Once you’ve achieved the grades you need, you can move on to a T Level and continue your journey towards a rewarding career in education.
