Getting ready.

Your summer before something new

You have applied, so now it is time to get ready. Here is how to prepare, what happens at enrolment and what to expect in your first weeks.

Checklist

Before you start

Tick these off over the summer. Your progress is saved on this device.

Prepare

Get ready to learn in a new way

At college you will do more independent study. These habits will help you settle in quickly.

Read every day

Read something every day, from news articles to books about your subject.

Keep your maths sharp

Practise some calculations each week, so you are ready when term starts.

Practise talking about your plans

Record a short talk about the course you chose, what excites you and what might be a challenge.

Start a learning diary

Get into good study habits now. Try OneNote, which you will use at college.

Enrolment

Enrolment confirms your place. Bring your GCSE results and the documents listed in your invitation. If your results are different from what you expected, come anyway and we will help you find the right course.

Your first weeks

Induction is in early September. You meet your teachers and classmates, find out about the support available and get your college sign-in details, so you can use all the systems and apps you need.
