No formal entry requirements, though an interest in fashion design or sewing is beneficial.

This progression course is designed for learners who have successfully completed the Adult Skills Foundation programme in pattern cutting and are ready to more advance towards more complex garment-development skills. Building on your existing knowledge, the course deepens your understanding of block manipulation, fitting principles, and garment design.

You will explore more advanced techniques used to adapt and transform basic blocks into a wide range of styles, enabling you to develop more patterns with accuracy and confidence. Learners will also strengthen their ability to analyse fit, make technical adjustments, and apply industry-relevant methods to create professional, bespoke garment patterns.

By the end of the course, you will have expanded your technical skill set and gained the expertise needed to progress onto higher-level study or specialist pathways within fashion design, pattern technology, or garment construction.
