Course information

  • This is a short six weeks, full-time intensive course which runs Monday - Friday.
  • Following completion of this course you will be guaranteed a job interview.
  • This practical course is for anyone working in street works (road works, underground services and reinstating materials) or planning to undertake physical work on UK roads. It covers excavation, backfilling and reinstatement, as well as signing, lighting and guarding. The objective is to confirm competence as a Street Works Operative. The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) requires that each set of street works has at least one qualified operative onsite while works are taking place. Training is delivered in partnership with Kenson Highways.

Upon completion of the free six-week course, learners are qualified as Street Works Operatives and have a guaranteed interview, supporting local employment and helping address critical skills shortages in London’s transport and utilities infrastructure workforce.
