Daniel Stander

Daniel is a Solicitor in the London office of the American law firm, Vedder Price, where he specialises in Employment Law.

The former Gaynes School student attended Havering Sixth Form College from 2004 to 2006, studying A Levels in Law, History and English Language & Literature.

Daniel went on to study for a Law degree at the University of Kent in Canterbury, gaining a 2:1.

He subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of London in Bloomsbury (formerly the College of Law), achieving a Commendation.

Daniel was excited to take Law as an A Level subject, and looks back fondly at his time at Havering Sixth Form, saying his teachers were patient in tolerating his unhealthy appetite for argument and the sound of his own voice!

As an employment lawyer, Daniel acts for employers and senior executives on the full spectrum of the employment relationship. He notes that employment law is incredibly topical – it is influenced by social, political and economic changes in society, and you have to constantly work to keep up. He also acts as a mentor to students who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in law.

He adds: “Being a solicitor is by no means always about courtroom drama or like an episode of Suits. But if you want to be continually challenged and have variety in your day-to-day working life, and use the skills you have developed to be at the forefront of helping your clients achieve their goals, it can be a thoroughly rewarding experience.”
