Entry requirements

You must have a minimum qualification at Level 3 in your subject specialism, Level 2 in English and be working towards Level 2 in Maths.


This qualification prepares learners for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting.

It covers areas such as how to support the well-being of a child or young person and child and young person development. This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in a school setting.

  • Assessment Criteria

    On this course you will cover the following topics:

    • Roles and Responsibilities in Education and Training: What is expected of a teacher in Further, Adult and Vocational Education.
    • Assessment in Education and Training: the different approaches used to assess, both formal and informal.
    • Using Inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training: planning, delivering and reflection on lessons to meet the needs of all learners

Further Information

On completion, students can progress to the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or Level 5 Diploma in Teaching and Training, or employment.
