Our 14–16 EHE provision at New City College Hackney Sixth Form offers a dynamic, part-time programme of up to 15 hours per week, designed for Year 10 and 11 students who are home educated. This curriculum supports parents and carers by providing an aspirational, stimulating, and interactive learning environment that leads to excellent academic and personal outcomes.

Classes are delivered by fully qualified subject specialists with significant experience of teaching 14–16-year-olds, and a proven track record of delivering the curriculum within a year. There is no cost for tuition or exam fees, which are fully covered as part of the programme.

Students at Hackney Sixth Form benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, including a library, IT suites, and science labs. Learning takes place in small class settings, ensuring students receive targeted support and high expectations.

Our rigorous quality assurance procedures, as recognised by Ofsted, contribute to outstanding student outcomes. Additional support includes:

At Hackney Sixth Form, learners can pursue a focused selection of academic and vocational subjects designed to support progression and engagement:

  • Functional Skills/GCSE English & Maths: Designed to build essential literacy and numeracy skills, preparing students for progression to further study or employment.
  • Vocational Studies: An introduction to a range of practical subjects and industries, offering hands-on learning experiences and insight into career pathways.
  • How you are assessed

    Assessment methods are varied to suit the subject and learner needs, including:

    • Coursework and portfolio development in vocational studies.
    • Regular in-class tests and mock exams in English and Maths.
    • Formal Functional Skills and GCSE exams (with fees covered by the college).
    • Progress reviews and target-setting to track student development and ensure they remain on track to achieve their goals.

    Students are expected to adhere to college rules and procedures, similar to their Post-16 peers, encouraging a professional attitude and readiness for further education.
