Course information

Our 14–16 EHE programme at New City College Havering (including Ardleigh Green and Rainham Campuses) offers a dynamic and supportive environment for young learners aged 14–16 who are electively home-educated. This provision is designed to support parents and carers by delivering an aspirational, interactive, and enjoyable curriculum leading to excellent outcomes.

Students can access up to 15 hours per week of high-quality education, delivered by fully qualified subject specialists with significant experience of teaching 14–16-year-olds. There is no charge for the course, and exam fees are fully covered.

Established in 2014, this provision has consistently demonstrated outstanding student results and success stories, recognised by Ofsted as part of a Good Provider in 2021. With access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a library, IT suites, and small group teaching, students benefit from targeted support, high expectations, and enrichment opportunities.

  • How you are assessed

    Assessment is holistic and tailored to each subject area, ensuring that students’ achievements are fully recognised.

    • Coursework and portfolio assessments (Art & Design, Hair & Beauty, Engineering)
    • Practical observations and hands-on tasks (Motor Mechanics, Construction, Sport)
    • Mock exams and in-class tests for English, Maths, and Business
    • Formal GCSE or Functional Skills exams (fully covered as part of the programme)
    • Regular progress reviews with tutors to set and achieve personal targets

    Students are expected to adhere to college rules and procedures, mirroring the expectations of older students, which fosters independence and readiness for future learning.
