Female footballers secure national finals spot again as player is chosen for All-Stars squad!

New City College Tottenham Hotspur Academy female football team has done it again! For the second year in a row, they have won the regional tournament and will proudly represent NCC at the AoC Sport National Championships finals 2025, taking place in April at the University of Nottingham.

This is a fantastic achievement for Coach Lyon Theoharous and the entire squad, who have worked hard to maintain their success. The team’s performance in the competition has highlighted the strength of NCC’s Education and Tottenham Hotspur Women’s Football Development Centre programme, which continues to grow, develop and nurture top-level talent.

Molly gets national U21 All-Stars squad call-up

There’s even more exciting news for the women’s team! Molly Sherrin, who studies at New City College Epping Forest, has been selected for the prestigious National Football Youth League (NFYL) Women’s U21 All-Stars squad after impressing at trials in Yorkshire.

New City College Tottenham Hotspur Academy female football team is through to the AoC National Finals again as player Molly Sherrin is selected for the U21 All-Stars national squad

This means Molly, a Level 3 Sport student, will have the incredible opportunity to play against top WSL (Women’s Super League) U21 teams – a major step towards a potential professional football career. The WSL is the highest tier of women’s football in England. It is run by the FA and sponsored by Barclays.

Molly’s achievement is outstanding, considering she is just one of 23 players from across the country to be chosen for the national All-Stars squad for 2024-25.

She follows in the footsteps of another Epping Forest campus student, Grace Craven, who was selected to play in the England Colleges FA national team while she was an NCC student. Grace completed her Level 3 Sport course in June last year, achieving fantastic grades of Distinction* Distinction* Distinction.

A legacy of success

The New City College women’s football programme has been going from strength to strength both on and off the pitch. In addition to their consecutive national finals success, the team was the winner of two major awards last year:

With back-to-back national finals appearances and players like Molly earning national recognition, the future of NCC Women’s Football has never looked brighter!
