Course information

This course is exposes students to a wide range of contemporary business topics that will enhance their progression to higher education or into future employment. It is for students who wish to pursue a career in business, to go on to higher education or into employment. The units are delivered by professionals with sound subject knowledge. We have specialist’s teachers in finance and accounting, marketing, economics and law.

You will study a variety of units which will allow you to decide on a specialism you want to pursue in the future. You will also have a BSix Study Programme which also includes Maths and English, enrichment and career education – all supported by a strong tutorial programme. At BSIX Brooke House College tutors are empowered to improve the life of our learners.

This extended diploma is a two-year course. Students begin with a Foundation Diploma in the first year and, upon successful completion, progress to the Extended Diploma in the second year.

Key topics

The course is taught using a combination of lectures, role plays, discussions, presentations, workshops and practical activities, conducted mainly in specialist IT suites dedicated to Business students. Learners are encouraged to pursue independent learning activities both inside and outside the college such as visiting local stores and carrying out market research. The course is enriched by exciting activities such as a study trip to KPMG, UBS, other major firms and using external guest speakers from the business sector. Within the college the students have accessed to state of art learning resources centre (LRC) to conduct independent workshop to bolster their learning. Through diverse and ambitious teaching programme the college aims to imbue sufficient cultural capital and above all provide quality of education that is compatible with the need and demand of 21st century.
  • How you are assessed

    The course is assessed using a range of methods including 2 exam-based units which are marked externally – one is a written exam in marketing, the other an on-screen exam in business finance. The learner needs to answer the exam questions satisfactorily to reach required pass marks for a L2 Pass, Merit or Distinction. There are also 9 coursework-based units with assignments which are set and marked by your teachers. In these units, the learner will be given a range of tasks based on real life situations which they will need to complete successfully to achieve a L2 Pass, Merit or Distinction in each unit.

What Can This Course Lead To

Once you have completed your Level Business course you can choose to progress onto University. You will be able to attend some of the top Russell Group Universities and enrol onto many Business-Related Degrees. You can also have look for apprenticeship and have potential careers in recruitment consultant, business analyst, customer service, accounting, finance and you can earn anything from £23,000 to £35,000+ per annum.
