Course information

This is a two-year qualification equivalent to three A Levels. This course is suitable for students who are interested in progressing to further study in IT and Computer Science related disciplines. IT and computing have a significant role in the world around us and play a part in almost everything we do.

This course will help you develop the skills required to work in the industry through a range of practical and skills-based study methods. The course aims to enable you to develop both personally and professionally by providing opportunity to enhance enquiry and investigation skills in solving complex problems both individually and in collaborative environments.

Study units include:

  • Principles of computer science
  • Fundamentals of computer systems
  • IT systems security and encryption
  • Business applications of social media
  • Mobile apps
  • Digital graphics and animation

This extended diploma is a two-year course. Students begin with a Foundation Diploma in the first year and, upon successful completion, progress to the Extended Diploma in the second year.
