Course information

This course is a two-year qualification equivalent to one A Level. This qualification is designed to support students who are interested in learning about the computing sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses.

The course uses a combination of assessment styles to give students the confidence to apply their knowledge to succeed in the workplace or to continue learning on higher education courses. This qualification is studied alongside 2 or 3 other A Levels or Level 3 BTEC equivalent courses. The course allows students to gain fundamental knowledge and skills in computing from which they can progress to broader or more specialist study at higher level.  The qualification can be taken in combination with A Levels or other vocational qualifications to meet progression requirements.

What Can This Course Lead To

Progress to university, further study, a higher level apprenticeship or employment.

This course, when studied with other Level 3 qualifications, fully meets entry requirements for progression to university degrees, such as Computer Science, Digital Technology Solutions,  Management for Business or Computer Forensics. It also enables students to develop knowledge and skills needed for entry-level roles related to this sector, including vocational apprenticeship and trainee roles.
