Poplar Campus Redevelopment

We're building the future for further education and training in Tower Hamlets.

Entrance

We have an exciting ambition to create a state-of-the-art campus for future students. Planning is at a very early stage but much work is being done in the background to start to realise our ambition.

Current Campus

We want New City College Tower Hamlets to remain a beacon of excellence for the borough and beyond.

Our current Poplar campus started life as a naval college in 1906 with just 376 students. Since then, new parts of the building have been built and developed and the campus is now part of one of the country's leading

college groups: New City College.

Our community deserves a state of the art college, for individuals to get the skills and qualifications

they need to succeed in their careers. Our Poplar development plans will deliver this.

Financing the Project

We will finance the redevelopment by releasing land on the existing site for enabling development. The details of the enabling development are yet to be confirmed but it could, for instance, be residential homes, helping to meet the borough’s housing targets.

Our Vision

* Be a prominent and significant asset to the borough of Tower Hamlets and beyond.

* Retain our status as the major education and skills provider in the borough and the wider region; fully aligned to current and future labour market needs.

* Be an aspirational college facility at the centre of a new South Poplar quarter.

* Respect the heritage of the college building and its history
