You will build a strong understanding of core economic theories and real world policies, learning how households, firms, governments and international institutions make choices. Using data and case studies, you will explore how markets work, why they sometimes fail, and how policy makers respond to issues such as inflation, unemployment, inequality and climate change. You will practise interpreting graphs and quantitative information, weighing trade offs, and applying models to current events.

Across microeconomics and macroeconomics you will compare alternative policies against clear objectives such as growth, stability, efficiency and equity. You will develop reasoned arguments, make decisions in specific contexts, and present conclusions in debate and discussion with your peers. By the end, you will be able to evaluate policy effectiveness, justify recommendations, and communicate economic ideas with clarity.
