Grade 3 English Language GCSE or L1 Functional Skill English, Grade 3 Maths GCSE or L1 Functional Skill Maths, 4 GCSEs at Grade 3

Course information

On the course you will gain a strong understanding of all aspects of professional food preparation, cooking and restaurant service. From day one you will be treated and expected to act like a professional chef/ food service operative. It’s all about building your employability skills, so we guarantee your training environment will be relevant, professional and vibrant to provide you with all the tools you need to make it in this wonderful industry. You will have the opportunity to have paid work in our award winning restaurant OKN1 or Rouge and work with our professional chefs on exciting outside catering events.

Study Units include:

  • Maintence of a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
  • Give customers a positive impression of self and your organisation
  • Working effectively as part of a hospitality team
  • Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food
  • Prepare and clear areas for table service
  • Serve food at the table
  • Prepare and cook meat and poultry
  • Produce basic vegetable dishes
  • Produce basic pasta dishes
