GCSE Exam Arrangements

At New City College we have thousands of students taking English and Maths GCSE exams this year and as a result most classes will not take place on the mornings of these exams. We wish everyone taking exams the very best of luck.

GCSE maths and English exam day arrangements

Please double check your campus information as most lessons will be cancelled whilst exams are taking place. 

At New City College we have thousands of students taking English and Maths GCSE exams this year and as a result most classes will not take place on the mornings of these exams.  

Where morning lessons are cancelled, campuses will be re-opening at 12.30 pm on these dates.  

Please check arrangements for your campus below.

The dates are:

  • Thursday 15 May 2025 (Maths paper 1)
  • Friday 23 May 2025 (English paper 1)
  • Wednesday 4 June 2025 (Maths paper 2)
  • Friday 6 June 2025 (English paper 2)
  • Wednesday 11 June 2025 (Maths paper 3)

If you are taking maths and / or English GCSE

You will have been given the details of when and where you need to be. Please arrive with plenty of time to sign in and settle in before your exam starts.

If you are NOT taking an exam on these dates

Many lessons will not take place on the mornings of these exams. Please read the information below carefully and look for your campus. If you do not have an exam or a lesson, do not come into college on these mornings.

In most cases

  • 16-19 year-olds: Morning classes cancelled except at Attlee, and some at BSix and Havering Sixth Form campuses.
  • Adult students: If you have not been explicitly told to come in, do not come in on these mornings. Except Ilford campus is open as usual.

  • Arbour Square / Attlee A Level Academy

    College is open as usual on these dates.

    If you are not taking an exam you should attend your lesson as usual.

  • Ardleigh Green Campus

    No 16-19 morning lessons will take place on the above dates. Only attend in the morning if you have an exam. The canteen will be open from 12:30 pm and afternoon classes take place as usual. Most adult classes are cancelled and you must only attend if you have specifically been told to.

  • Epping Forest Campus

    No 16-19 morning lessons will take place on the above dates. Only attend in the morning if you have an exam. The canteen will be open from 12:30 pm and afternoon classes take place as usual. Most adult classes are cancelled and you must only attend if you have specifically been told to.

  • Hackney Campus

    No 16-19 morning lessons will take place on the above dates. Only attend in the morning if you have an exam. The canteen will be open from 12:30 pm and afternoon classes take place as usual. Many adult classes are cancelled and you must only attend if you have specifically been told to.

  • Hackney Sixth Form (BSix)

    The campus will be closed for students except for those sitting exams, and 2nd year A Levels students, AS Further maths students and 14-16 students. The canteen will be open from 12:30 pm and all afternoon classes take place as usual.

  • Havering Sixth Form

    Thursday 15th May and Friday 23rd May

    The campus will be closed for students except for those sitting exams and for Upper 6th A Level classes. The canteen will be open from 12.30pm and afternoon classes take place from 12:30 pm.

     

    Wednesday 4th June, Friday 6th June and Wednesday 11th June

    The campus will be closed for students except for those sitting A Level or GCSE Exams. The canteen will be open from 12:30 pm and afternoon classes take place from 12:30 pm.

     

    Through this period, Lower 6th (First Year) A Level classes continue as normal except for the GCSE Exam days as detailed above. Vocational and BTEC classes continue as normal except for the GCSE Exam days as detailed above

  • Ilford Campus

    College is open as usual.

  • Rainham Campus

    No 16-19 morning lessons will take place on the above dates. Only attend in the morning if you have an exam. The canteen will be open from 12:30 pm and afternoon classes take place as usual. Most adult classes are cancelled and you must only attend if you have specifically been told to.

  • Redbridge Campus

    No 16-19 morning lessons will take place on the above dates. Only attend in the morning if you have an exam. The canteen will be open from 12.30pm and afternoon classes take place as usual. Most adult classes are cancelled and you must only attend if you have specifically been told to.

  • Tower Hamlets Campus

    No 16-19 morning lessons will take place on the above dates. Only attend in the morning if you have an exam. The canteen will be open from 12.30pm and afternoon classes take place as usual. Most adult classes are cancelled and you must only attend if you have specifically been told to.
