Hello Yellow brings mental health into focus

Students got into the spirit of World Mental Health Day by joining some fun and thought-provoking activities to support each other and help with their wellbeing.

The Hello Yellow campaign, on Friday October 8th, was a way for schools and colleges to show that whoever you are and whatever you’re going through, you can talk to someone. Students were encouraged to wear yellow, learn more about mental health and raise funds for YoungMinds.

Student Services teams at NCC campuses put on displays, ran stalls and played music to give students the opportunity to focus on their wellbeing and take part in games, quizzes and other beneficial activities.

Students were asked to make pledges and write down positive messages to encourage kindness, as well as taking selfies to share their support for the day. There was also a mental health bingo game, quizzes with prizes and a make-a-wish table.

Emma Wood, Senior Safeguarding and Enrichment Manager at Havering Sixth Form, said: “It was great to see staff and students supporting the Hello Yellow campaign and raising funds for YoungMinds. It gave everyone a chance to de-stress, take a break and focus on their wellbeing for a moment.”
