Scenes for the new Top Boy TV series were filmed at the derelict Waterloo Road estate in Romford – and New City College Havering student Fjorald Cacaj was there to witness it all.
Fjorald, 19, a Media student at the Ardleigh Green campus in Hornchurch, jumped at the opportunity for some work experience on the film set.
He acted as the runner – grabbing heaters, connecting wires and carrying out other tasks essential for filming on location. He got to see some of the actors and speak with professionals, including make-up artists and camera crew.
Fjorald said: “It was a great experience, something to remember and I really enjoyed it. It was a busy schedule and very hard work. I didn’t realise that filming a TV series would be so tiring and involve such long days. I was on my feet from 9am to 10pm. It has made me have so much respect for the work that film crews do.”
The fourth series of the hard-hitting crime drama, shown on Netflix, is due to be released later this year.
