After completing her degree in Medicine, Konyin started working as an NHS junior doctor at the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital in Merseyside.

A student at Havering Sixth Form from 2009 to 2012, Konyin achieved an A* and As in Biology, Chemistry, French and Physics A Levels after resitting a year to improve her grades.

She progressed to study Medicine at the University of Southampton and has spent the last seven years working towards her dream of becoming a doctor.

As part of the degree she travelled to the Caribbean and the USA on an 8-month work placement to learn about Medicine in other parts of the world.

While in Liverpool Konyin will get general training in all departments focusing on general surgery before choosing a specialism in two years’ time. She will be moved to various hospitals around the country in order to finish her training.

The former Robert Clack School pupil from Dagenham said studying Medicine has been very rewarding but very intense. She added: “I’m fully prepared for the struggles ahead – it’s not going to be plain sailing, I know that, but the reason why I chose Medicine and have always wanted to be a doctor is because people are vulnerable and I want to help them. Always having that in the back of my mind helps me focus when things get tough.”
