Entry requirements

You will be expected to have Maths GCSE grade C/4 or Functional Skills Maths Level 2 and English GCSE grade C/4 or Functional Skills English Level 2 . Experience in the construction industry would be an advantage.

This course is aimed at students who are 18+ and for candidates who want to work as plumbers in the building services engineering sector and are looking to achieve their technical certificate. You can expect to study the following topics:

  • Health and Safety
  • Principles
  • Processes
  • Hot and cold water
  • Central heating
  • Sanitation
  • Environmental awareness
  • Customer Relations
  • Rainwater Systems

Attendance will need to be at least 90% to qualify. In addition, all learners will be required to undertake at least 3 hours of independent home study a week.

  • Assessment Criteria

    You will be assessed through both exams and theory as well as practical assessments.

What Can This Course Lead To

Following this course you have a number of options: It allows candidates to progress into employment, though not as a fully qualified plumber, or to the following City and Guilds qualifications:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating
  • Level 3 Technical Diploma in Plumbing Studies

Plumbing Careers: Plumbers are employed in the installation of new plumbing components or the maintenance and repair of existing plumbing infrastructures.
