Eve Pearson

Eve Pearson progressed so well on the Level 3 Sport course that she was offered the chance to become a part-time coach at Tottenham Hotspur FC – and now leads her own evening and holiday programme sessions for young players aged 5-12.

Eve said: “Enrolling on this course has allowed me to broaden my knowledge on anatomy, the physiological side of sport, diet and nutrition, fitness testing and how athletes prepare mentally to ensure peak performance for competition.

Through studying at New City College I have decided that sport is definitely the route I want to follow when I leave and I have been able to make informed decisions about my future, such as university applications and football career pathways.

The opportunity to join the coaching excellence programme with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has been an amazing part of the Sport course. I have been inspired by the coaches who have taught me and they have helped to develop my confidence, positive attitude and other skills such as communication and teamwork. I now lead my own sessions during school holidays and in the evenings, aiding young players to fulfil their potential and making the training an enjoyable learning experience for them. Through this work experience, which I love, I have completed an FA Introduction to Coaching course and a First Aid course.

While at New City College I have also been a part of the women’s football team where I have made new friends and developed my football ability. The sessions are intense but also a lot of fun and the coaches are extremely supportive. I have grown as a player and improved many aspects of my game.

Balancing education and football can be difficult at times, but the college structures our timetables so that nothing clashes and the sports tutors are always there to help and guide you. I feel comfortable here and in an environment which everyday encourages me to do better, helping me to grow as a person and footballer.”

We wish Eve the best of luck in her future endeavours and we are proud of the success she has achieved at New City College.
