If you are applying to Havering Sixth Form Campus:
The Pearson Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification (AAQ) in Information Technology (Extended Certificate) is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of IT principles and practices.
The course is a two-year qualification, equivalent to one A Level. It must be studied alongside two other A Levels. It is designed to support students who are interested in learning about the computing sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, an apprenticeship or employment.
This qualification covers fundamental aspects of Information Technology, including the role and implications of IT systems, cybersecurity threats, and the management of such attacks. Students will also develop essential skills in creating websites tailored to specific purposes and managing data through the development of relational database solutions.
It has a vocational focus, with a majority of coursework, but it is studied as part of an A Level study programme. Two other A Levels must be chosen along with it and it combines well with most other A Levels.
