Entry requirements

  • 18+
  • You will be expected to have GCSE maths and English Language qualifications at grade C or above (grade 4 on new framework) or equivalent.
  • Appropriate accredited Level 3 qualification
  • Experience of working as a teacher within an educational setting
  • You will be expected to attend an interview and complete an initial assessment.
  • Current enhanced DBS check.

Course information

This course is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and behaviours to teach, in a range of contexts, in the post-16 further education (FE) and skills sector. You will develop relevant knowledge of the sector, understand your role as a teacher and how students learn.

This course involves teaching practice placement and will provide you with opportunities to engage in a range of professional activities. You will be well supported throughout the course with the support of a subject specialist and a pastoral mentor, whilst on placement, in addition to the support of the course team.

This course is designed in line with the DfE framework guidance for full teaching qualifications for the FE and Skills Sector.

    All learning outcomes have to be successfully addressed in the assessment process. All of our teaching staff are experienced professionals in the field of education. All students are allocated a personal tutor who will be your first point of communication should you have any queries or concerns. Regular 1:1 sessions will take place within the classroom where there will be the opportunity to discuss your course and progress.

    You will also be supported by a mentor within your placement who will work alongside your tutor and classroom observer.

    You will be assessed via arrange of methods including coursework, presentations, observations of practice. You will be required to complete minimum of 250 placement hours, of which at least 150 hours will be teaching practice
