Education and Childcare (T Level)

Course Overview

Entry requirements

  • Five or more GCSEs at grades 9-4 including English and Maths
  • Where there are specific subjects required at GCSE we can discuss your grades with you when you come to enrol

Information

T-Levels are new Technical courses - which are equivalent to three A Levels. T-Levels - combine classroom theory, practical learning and industry placement of at least 45 days with an employer, to make sure you have a real experience of the workplace.

They provide the knowledge and experience needed for skilled employment, higher education and apprenticeships. You will spend 3 days per week in college and will be taught the theory elements of the course. 2 days a week in Industry placement to learn practical skills and demonstrate competencies needed to work with children.

  • 2 written examinations (paper A and B)
  • Employer-Set Project (ESP)

Grading: A* - E and Ungraded (U)

Year 2:

Occupational specialism: Early Years Educator

Content:

  • Support and promote children's play, development and early education.
  • Develop relationships with children to facilitate their development.
  • Plan, provide and review care, play and educational opportunities to enable children to progress.
  • Safeguard and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of children.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues, parents, carers and other professionals to support children's development.

Assessment:

3 Synoptic assignments

Grading: Distinction, Merit, Pass and Ungraded (U)

Industry Placement: Take places during year 1 and 2

You will attend a weekly industry placement in external education and childcare provider throughout your course.

Through this placement you will have the opportunity to apply knowledge learnt in the classroom to real-life situations and develop key technical skills. Across the 2 years course, you will complete a minimum of 750 hours.
