Entry requirements

Essential:

  • A working knowledge of Computers, Microsoft Applications and the Windows 10 operating system.
  • Successful completion of initial assessment
  • GCSE Maths & English at Grade 4

Desirable:

  • Basic programming knowledge

Course information

Did you want to go to university but do not have A-levels? Are you a keen IT enthusiast? Are you over 19? If you answered yes to these questions, then this course is for you. Access courses are built for those learners that have been out of education for a while and want to transition to university.

There are a wide range of skills that can be gained from this course including:

  • Mathematics for Computing
  • A Practical Research Investigation Project for Computing
  • Computer Networks
  • JavaScript
  • Relation Databases
  • Object Oriented Programming
  • Systems Analysis
  • Website Design and Development
  • Preparation for Higher Education

By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation in a range of computing areas that will help you to progress to our newly introduced Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing for England (HTQ) programme comprising of a Level 4 HNC in year 1 and a Level 5 HND in year 2.

You can fund an access course by taking out an advanced learner loan from the government. If you take out a loan for an access course, then complete a university degree course, you will not have to pay your access loan off.
