Course Overview

Entry requirements

You will be required to attend an informal interview and a basic skills test prior to enrolment.

Information

This entry level course will give you a real taste into the hospitality industry and provide you with the basic cooking skills. You will learn softer skills such as personal social development, Functional Skills in Maths and English alongside customer service and basic food preparation and cooking.

You will cover the following units:

  • Basic food preparation and cooking: – vegetables, simple salads, fruit dishes, pasta and rice
  • How to use kitchen equipment
  • Basic meat and fish preparation skills
  • Health & Safety
  • Food Safety
  • Assessment Criteria

    There is no formal assessment or exam.

Further Information

On completion of this course, you can progress onto further study in the Hosptality and Catering sector with our Level 1 and 2 courses.
