Entry requirements

Completion of the 5-step Coding Challenge set by Code Institute
Successful interview with Code Institute and New City College
Working at least at Level 2 in English and Maths
No formal qualifications required, but applicants must have suitable digital skills to study at Level 5
Access to a computer or laptop with a camera and broadband internet
Camera must be on during lessons to confirm participation

Course information

This course is delivered fully online, giving you the flexibility to learn from home, at your own pace and around your other commitments. To take part, you’ll need access to a computer or laptop and a reliable internet connection.

This online course, written by Code Institute and accredited by Gateway Qualifications, builds practical skills in web development, covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and database management for creating professional web applications.

Ideal for aspiring web developers or IT professionals, it offers 24/7 access to learning materials, weekly 3-hour live sessions, tutor support, mentoring via Slack, and optional one-to-one guidance. Students should commit to around 15 hours of self-study weekly for the course duration.

This is not a full-time course and does not qualify for a visa or student status discounts. Applicants must first complete Code Institute’s 5-step Coding Challenge. No prior coding experience is required.

The course covers both front-end and back-end development, preparing learners for roles such as full-stack developer, web application developer, or QA engineer, and serves as a strong pathway into the tech industry.
